Reference · The Method
Four movements, run in order, every time.
The sequence is the product. Facts before analysis, analysis before judgment, judgment before strategy, and no stage skipped because the client seems ready or the advisor is in a hurry.
01 · Establish
Facts
What is true, in the client's own words and in their own documents.
02 · Measure
Analysis
What those facts imply when run against the reference.
03 · Weigh
Judgment
What matters most where the analysis leaves a choice open.
04 · Place
Strategy
What gets recommended, why, and how it is documented.
Operating frame
Blueprint Operating System™
Blueprint Operating System™ is the operating frame that holds the method and its instruments together. Facts → Analysis → Judgment → Strategy sets the order of work. The nine instruments execute that order in the appointment, the case file, and the live certification run.
Arc A
The Blueprint Appointment™
The client-facing arc. Three stages, each with its own instruments and its own definition of done. An advisor does not advance a case to the next stage until the current one is established.
A.01
Discovery
Nothing is designed here.
Discovery is a separate appointment with a separate purpose, and it ends without a recommendation. The advisor's job is to establish the facts and the feeling behind them: what the client owns, what they owe, who depends on them, and what they are actually afraid of.
Instruments
- Individual fact-finder and business-continuation fact-finder
- Life insurance client intake and annuity client intake
- The Legacy & Cashflow Blueprint: Fact Finder module
- Fact-and-Feeling™ questioning technique
- Discovery voice simulators for practice under pressure
Definition of done
Every field on the fact-finder is either filled or explicitly marked unknown, and the advisor can state the client's primary concern in the client's own language.
A.02
Case Design
Face amount first.
Design starts from the size of the problem, not from the size of the premium. The need is quantified before any product category is named, and the recommendation has to be traceable back to a specific figure the client provided in Discovery.
Instruments
- The Legacy & Cashflow Blueprint: budget, debt, mortgage, retirement, and coverage-need modules
- Retirement & Survivor Analyzer
Definition of done
Every number in the recommendation traces to a source. If a figure cannot be traced, it does not appear in the presentation.
A.03
Delivery
Placement is a stage, not paperwork.
Most methods stop at the close. This one does not. Delivery covers the presentation of the design, the underwriting submission, and the policy delivery conversation, because the case is not placed until the client understands what they bought.
Instruments
- The Blueprint client report
- Underwriter cover letter and financial justification letter
- Case executive summary
Definition of done
The policy is delivered in person or on camera, and the client can restate what the policy does without prompting.
Doctrine
Reference begins here.
A datum is not a target. It is the point everything else is measured from: the thing that makes two measurements comparable at all.
That is the argument for a standard over a script. Two advisors running the same script produce two different appointments. Two advisors meeting the same standard produce the same quality of work, and a leader can tell the difference.
Arc B
The Development Arc
The organizational mirror of the client arc. The same discipline applied to finding, selecting, and building the advisor who will run it.
B.01
Observation
Recruiting by noticing.
The best candidates are rarely applying. Observation trains a leader to identify capability in ordinary settings, the way someone handles a difficult customer, runs a room, or recovers from being wrong, and to open a conversation from that.
Instruments
- Personal Observation workshop
- The Recruiter's Eye™ field method
- Facilitator Deck for running the workshop live
B.02
Selection
A measured decision about fit.
Selection converts interest into an evaluated decision. The candidate is measured against defined criteria, and the offer is presented as a documented career proposition rather than a pitch.
Instruments
- Candidate evaluation system
- Advisor proposal deck and career progression sheet
B.03
Development
To independent production.
Development is where most organizations lose the advisor they worked to recruit. The progression framework defines what competence looks like at each stage and what the leader owes the advisor to get them there.
Instruments
- Career progression framework
- Recruiting and onboarding sequence
- Leader development material
Next
Knowing the method is not meeting the standard.
Certification is where the two separate. Everything on this page can be read in an afternoon; running it in front of a live client is the part that has to be measured.
